CLH: This PA includes such a detailed account of the Battle of Camden that I initially suspected Boisseau had brought a history book into court. His description of later events that wouldn't have made the history books is equally detailed and correct, however, so I believe his claim that he was relying on his own vivid recollections. Contrary to the Guilford Dudley's recollection, ..., Boisseau states that when the Americans and British first encountered each other it was too dark for battle. He also says that the Virginia militiamen did at least fire one volley before fleeing, and he gives the impression that not all fled in panic.

  205. Started process of making changes for entries marked "addtl PA", indicating that a revwarapps.org transcription has been provided anew for an existing record not having such. There are ~65 such entries, plus a few other names mentioned in such.

  206. Finished .htm page with links for all pension application numbers. Added navigation aids.

    12/26/13
  207. Converted Worklist to .htm page in order to show application numbers as links. Converted the first 50. You may need to click reload/refresh on this page to see this. This will take a bit of time, but I will try to get it done fairly soon. It makes it much easier to check out a listing.

    12/25/13
  208. Completed all 754 search returns. Total listings in worklist: 606.

  209. Search for August 15-16, 1780 (WTG) had 147 returns.

  210. Finished searches for 16 Aug 1780 (CLH). For 754 search returns, 524 additions were made to the worklist.

    12/24/13
  211. Worklist now has 501 entries after going thru 650+ search results for "16 Aug 1780" (think CLH). After making the criteria more moderate (actually after reviewing the original criteria), I have tended to include more "possibles", knowing that they will all be subject to further review. Anywhere a pension # is mentioned but there is no link to a CLH/WTG link, I have listed the name/# showing a note "addtl". I am now slightly more than 2/3 thru my target searches.

    12/22/13
  212. Added Worklist for additions to listing of American participants based on searches of http://revwarapps.org/. Searches are Freefind, in date order (oldest to newest) for "16 Aug 1780" (CLH) and for "August 15-16, 1780" (WTG). Initially contains 388 entries after checking 525 search returns (of total ~900 such).

  213. Added link to worklist at top of this page.

  214. As our transcribers report new additions to the Camden roster, such will be immediately entered on the worklist, adding assurance that new work will not get left out.

  215. Criteria has been re-visited and a link has been added to the top of this page. Nothing precludes more such visitation and tweaking.
  216. Added "Change Detection" notification (for this page only) to top of page (for seriously conscientious viewers!).

  217. The current intention is that full text of proposed changes to the online listing of American participants will appear first on this "What's New?" listing where they will be available for review and comment for several days before they are added to the online listing. Names added here will be removed from the worklist. For those interested in participating in this effort (or merely observing its progress!), the "change notification" widget will ensure that they miss nothing.

  218. This page will serve as a record of changes proposed and/or made over an extended period of time. An entry already made to the online listing remains open to discussion indefinitely.
